European Cups - betting tips for first preliminary round (first leg)

Time for Europe! Our ‘Betting corner’ takes a look at what might be the most interesting odds for the Estonian clubs engages with the European fixtures.

Champions League: La Fiorita vs. FC Levadia Tallinn (at ‘Stadio Olimpico di Serravalle’, San Marino – 1st  of July 2014, 20:30 CEST / 21:30 EEST)
Streaming available here.

It is the first time an Estonian club is drawn with a San Marino one. The San Marino clubs have never managed to go past the 1st round of Champions League. Levadia have the obligation to win this game and will probably manage to leave the tiny country, enclave of the Italian peninsula, with a safe win that will make the return in Kadriorg Park Stadium a mere walk…in the park. However striker Andy Selva and experienced Simone Confalone might give La Fiorita something more to net one past Smiśko (goalkeeper holding the Estonian domestic record for minutes of clean sheet).
he 'Over 2,5' option by Optibet offers a juicy 1.61 odd to put your stake on.

Europa League: FC Santos Tary vs. Tromsoe IL (at 'Tamme Staadion', Tartu, Estonia - 3rd of July 2014, 17:00 CEST / 18:00 EEST)

A third tier club from Estonia who has entered Europea through the cup gate, encounters a second tier club from Norway which has entered the Europa League via the UEFA Fair Play ranking. If this presentation would make imply a balanced clash, then we shall remind that here it’s about a fully professional side (Tromsoe IL) visiting an almost recreational club (FC Santos Tartu) which had a lucky strike in last season Estonian cup path featuring a huge giant killing and some fortunate draws that put powerhouses one against the other. The streak of luck might be at the end (a first sign was the loss at penalties against FC Flora double team in the first round of 2014-15 Estonian Cup). On the other hand, we have a powerhouse of Adeccoligaen (Norwegian second tier) which very likely will return to Tippeligaen. The Over 3,5 option is still a good odd to put stake on.

Europa League: Sillamäe Kalev vs. FC Honka Espoo (at ‘Rakvere Spordikompleks’, Rakvere, Estonia – 3rd of July 2014, 17:30 CEST / 18:30 EEST)

After a good start in the domestic Premium Liiga (they were on top of the table until matchday 8, now dropped on the 4th place, 9 points far from the tableleader) Sillamäe have gone through a difficult period made of serious injuries (striker Zahovaiko) change of coaches and squad’s makeover (a Spanish midfielder from Tercera Division was signed). The last game in Premium Liga against Levadia, was a 0-2 defeat at home which probably meant an ‘amen’ to Sillamäe’s hope to tackle Tallinn clubs’ power in the fight for the title. An additional motivation to put as many energies as they can to go as far as possible in Europe. The draw brought FC Honka, 2013 runners-up behind HJK Helsinki. The side coached by Shefki Kuki is not doing very well: they're 8th on the table (out of 12) after they managed to win 2-1 against FC Inter Turku clinching the three points on 90’ minutes with substitute Niko Puuskari. Their domestic difficulties might suggest that Sillamäe, after all, might have a chance on the home soil. If they manage to keep their domestic scoring vein (best striking force with 47 goals, however in a less-competitive league than Veikkausliiga) they might play on an even level with Honka. However, their defence has not proved rock solid and the goalkeeper’s role doesn’t have a permanent owner. It is quite likely they might be exposed to counterattacks, Honka's favourite weapon.
All hints at the 'Over 2,5' as a safe sign. For those who feel to risk, the '2 at HT' is 2,24

Europa League: Fram Reykjavik vs. Nõmme Kalju FC (at ‘Laugardalsvöllur’, Reykjavik, Iceland – 3rd of July 2014, 21:15 CEST / 22:15 EEST)

It is Nõmme Kalju debut in the Europa League after leaving the competition at play-off last season when they lost 5-1 on aggregate to Dnipro Dnipropetrovsk. They start from one of the most remote corners of the UEFA map as their away trip is to Iceland. The trip itself will be quite proving even though the temperatures should not shock the Estonian side: Reykjavik travels around 10’C in summertime, nothing far from the Estonian late spring. The young and inexperienced side coached by Gudjonssen should not be a great headache for Nõmme Kalju who have the very first chance to win their first away tie in an European competition (3 draws and 3 losses the tally so far) and a lot of experience from last season. Even if deprived of a pure striker (Neemelo is injured, Ahjupera and Felipe Nunes were not registered) the speed of Kimbaloula, Quintieri and Toomet, might create the FRAM's back line several headaches and help Kalju return home with a safe win. The '2 at FT' odd is very rich: 3.44
