Lithuania squad for matches against Estonia and Slovenia

Lithuania national football team have announced their 23-man squad for EURO 2016 Qualifiers games against Estonia and Slovenia.

There are only two changes in the squad, as Nerijus Valskis (CS Universitatea Craiova, ROM) and Valdemar Borovskij (Daugava Riga, LVA) were left out, while Tautvydas Eliošius (Kruoja, LTU) and Vytautas Lukša (Trakai, LTU) replaced them. The latter pair have been in national team camp last summer, when Lithuania played in Baltic Cup tournament.

Noticeably, Lithuania will be without two forwards Gratas Sirgėdas (Stuttgart, GER) and Lukas Spalvis (Aalborg, DEN), who are both long-term abscentees.

Igoris Pankratjevas, first team manager: “In the squad we know each other very well and great communication on a pitch reflects that. I also think that the spirit of our team is at high level and I still believe in a potential of this team.

Estonia team must be respected, in recent years they have shown a capability of playing well and winning the games against strong opponents. I must notice that they are very disciplined in the back and not giving plenty of opportunities to score. Also, as the game against Slovenia has shown, counterattacks is one of their main weapons”, - he added.

Can we expect any changes in starting XI?

Vytautas Andriuškevičius, who is a regular one in SC Cambuur (Dutch Eredivisie) starting squad, could replace Vaidas Slavickas in back four, while Artūras Žulpa may substitute Karolis Chvedukas in defensive midfielders zone. I expect Deivydas Matuvelčius to start the match in central forward role, as he will accompanied by Arvydas Novikovas and Fedor Černych in the wings.
