When the goalkeeper makes a mistake, everyone asks for him to be replaced. What to do when all the defence makes several mistakes? What he could save, he saved.
The most positive of Estonian defence. Maybe because most of Switzerland attacks in first half come from the Estonia's left. A great run back to avoid a counterattack when Estonia was unbalanced.
We're sorry to give the captain a bad rating in the night of his 100 caps. However, we're sure he's not so proud of his performance either. Hard also to cope with a defensive line that comes straight from winter preparation.
Who's gonna mark who? Enar gets a bit confused. One of the many guilty ones on Schär header from corner.
Hard to cope with Lichtsteiner (Juventus). Ken had to focus on defending as a matter of necessity. In second half he is left marking Seferovic when the striker scores the 3-0. Compels Lichtsteiner to go out after a foul that injures the Juventus right back. In Torino they are shivering since they lost Marchisio for 8 months.
The defensive midfielder role experiment is (hopefully) over.
Unusually messy. Better in second half just because the Swiss lower the tempo.
Ca va sans dire, as usual one of the best players. Estonia's only and best chance from his feet. Clone him.
When Aivar Pohlak said he is the Estonian Pirlo, he probably meant for the quantity of balls he can recover in a game. He works a lot and basically alone since neither Antonov nor Mets help him. He goes to a lot of trouble to try and stop Swiss tiki-taka until Pehrsson replaces him with Kruglov past the hour.
Maybe Rauno Alliku could have come in earlier. Not the greatest night for Sergei.
HENRI ANIER 5
As Hernan Crespo said, the striker is the thermometer of the team. He doesn't receive many balls to work with but at the same time, his replacement and best friend, Henrik Ojamaa, tried more in second half.
ALLIKU S.V. Special mention as Rauno debuted in a qualifiers game.
Coach PEHRSSON 5
Switzerland is a great team, he said in the post-match interview. Fine. So what did it mean 'we only have to win' in press conference before the match? Apart from any difference of class (Switzerland's game is far better than England...), most of his XI comes from pre-season. The same words should have been spent in Vilnius when instead he said that a point away wouldn't have been bad.
Apart from this, he improved the negative score against the Swiss as he sufferend only 3 goals (6 and 4 in the only two precedents). However, Switzerland lowered the tempo a lot in second half. Right choice to put in Ojamaa. Maybe could have tried Purje instead of Zenjov.
