Matchday 30, Tammeka JK Tartu vs. FC Flora, 2-4

Pleasant Saturday afternoon in Tartu and good atmosphere for the last match from round 30 of Premium Liiga between Tammeka and the leaders Flora. Can the hosts upset the guests from Tallinn and cause a stir up at the top of the table or will Flora cruise to another win? Let’s go step by step.

Coach Indrek Koser opted for his standard 4-2-3-1 formation and few changes in his starting XI. Kütt was on the goal, Lorenz and Tutk in central defense, Anderson and Ojamaa on the full-back positions. Paju and Tekko were deployed in the center of the park, Suurpere on the right flank, Tauts on the right and Tiirik, as usual, behind Martin Hurt in the offensive line.

Norbert Hurt also made few changes in his starting line-up. Prins was again between the sticks, Rähn and Mets in defense, Aloe and Jürgenson standardly took the full-back positions, Mošnikov was paired with Luigend in central midfield and in the attacking third Alliku and Logua were deployed on the wings and Beglarashvili behind Prosa.

From the very beginning the leaders tried to establish control in possession and to show that they came to the country’s second biggest city for the three points. In the 3rd minute Jürgenson nicely made his way into the box through the left side, but Mošnikov didn’t manage to direct the header towards Kütt’s goal. In the 6th minute Mošnikov himself created a chance, but there was no one in the box to convert his ball. In the 15th minute Jürgenson continued to torment Tammeka’s defense as he passed Anderson easily, but somehow Tartu’s players managed to clear the danger. In the 23rd minute Kütt inexplicably left the goal, but luckily Logua’s shot went over the goal. In the 26th minute biggest chance of the match so far and it was for the home team. Quick counter attack down the right flank but Paju’s shot ended in the bar. In the counter-attack on the other side, Irakli Logua got rid of Ojamaa, sent a nice ball in the box and the punishment came in the form of goal from Albert Prosa. Silence on the stands and relief for Norbert Hurt’s players who finally managed to break the deadlock. In the 28th minute another big chance for Flora’s hitman as he passed the goalkeeper, but the defenders were faster than him. In the 36th minute Irakli Logua managed to break the home team’s fans hearts once again after solely creating a chance and shot from some 18 meters to beat Kütt in the left low corner. 0-2 as the leaders were showing great finishing. Three minutes later dangerous situation in Flora’s box after the corner and again, as the unwritten rule says, if you don’t score, you will most probably concede. Beglarashvili received a ball 30 meters from the goal, made a couple of dribblings and with an excellent shot from the edge of the box tripled the guests’ lead. As the clock ticked minute 45, referee Tarajev blew the whistle to end the forgetful first half for the home team.

Hurt could definitely be happy with his team’s ruthlessness in front of the goal as well as from the pressure applied in midfield, not allowing his opponent to create any big chances. Koser, on the other hand, would surely advise his players to push a bit higher on the pitch in order to create more chances and minimize their opponent’s lead.

The second half started in a similar fashion. As the home team was trying to push a bit forward, they left more space for the fast Flora wingers to create chances on the counter. In the 52nd minute Luigend tried from distance, but only managed to hit the net from the outside. In the 56th minute Alliku created another chance for himself but the post was Kütt’s ally. In the next minute new chance for the table leaders, but Kütt managed to save Logua’s shot. In the 62nd minute Jürgenson was brought down in the box by Anderson and Tarajev did not hesitate to show towards the white spot. Flora’s right full-back decided to take the penalty himself and beat Kütt with a shot down the middle for 0-4. After this Tammeka’s players pushed a bit higher and it resulted in a goal for the home team after Tutk scored what might be a contender for the goal of the season as his shot from over 30 meters deflected from the post to beat Prins. In the 74th minute big miss for Logua after being nicely set up by Luigend. In the 82nd minute Sergei Mošnikov was sent off after being booked for the second time in the period of only 15 minutes. On his way out he was booed by the home fans to whom he answered by showing „4-1“ with his fingers. Definitely not very popular among the home crowd. Till the end of the match Luigend was also given a straight red card for a foul and he will be sidelined for the derby against Kalju next weekend. The home team managed to score a consolation goal from penalty for Tutk to complete his brace and final result 2-4. New win for Flora away from home and good run, but without Mošnikov and Luigend before the derby next weekend against Kalju in front of the home crowd. Tammeka remains 8th with five points behind Narva but almost secured place in the elite for the next season.
