Our 'Best XI' competition gets going!
All the top players of the Premium Liiga are now sprinting to become the best players of season 2014.
The selection of the 'Best XI' from each matchday is now sponsored by Optibet, Sports & Casino .
Let's discover which was the 'Optibet Best XI' for matchday 31 as chosen by 'Rumori'
We will also take a look at the general standings*** (top5 for each role).
Goalkeeper - the return of Igonen
After Śmiśko and Teleś monopolizing the competition for the best goalkeeper, the young Infonet's shot stopper gets in the way by reappearing in the Best XI. With 5.5 points he is still light years away from the duo and the maths says that with two matchdays to go, it won't be possible to climb on a better place of the podium. At the same time, he reconfirmed himself after the surprise debut offered last season. Place earned thanks to few saves that contributed to Infonet's 2-0 win against tableleaders Levadia.
Defenders - Unreleased central defending duo
We might be wrong, however the Rähn-Baguźis duo sounds as unprecedented in our Best XI. Baguźis not only contributed in keeping the sheet clean, but scored one of his goals (he's got 3 this season). Rähn opened the score in Narva for Flora's easy cruise in Eastern Estonia. Even if they managed to suffer other two goals (they have the worst defence in the top4 - 33 goals) the win was never jeopardized in FAMA stadium. Another precious point for Jürgenson who will probably retain the righ full-back position till the bottom of the season. Sidorenkov climbs from the depths.
Midfielders - offensive midfield
By choosing a 4-3-3 this week, the midfielders that earned a place were Irakly Logua (MOTM in Narva) and Hidetoshi Wakui (another goal scored to be Kalju's topscorer this season so far). Behind them, defensive midfielder Viktor Plotnikov from Narva Trans. Also Alliku is a midfielder, however, formation-wise, he is the right striker of the forward trident. On the bench, Kruglov offered a good performance notwithstanding Levadia lost at Infonet.
Strikers - 60-goal-power line
Manucho and Kabaev are the best you can find at the moment in Premium Liiga: 35 and 25 goals. 'I work hard for an higher league' revealed the Ivorian striker to a local Ivory Coast media, he didn't hide either his ambition to manage it to the Elephants national team one day. Meanwhile he gets another point and gives Rumori an headache about the final decision: shall we opt for a 4-2-3-1 and give a start to Kabaev, or shall we switch to 4-4-2 and include him in the starting XI? The decision will be taken only next weeks.
*** 1 point for a place in the XI and 0,5 points for a substitute place
