FC Infonet - Kalev Tallinn match preview

Chris JohnsComment

Infonet will be looking to get their season back on track after taking just one point from their last two matches. Last weekend’s much-discussed draw at Narva Trans followed a 3-0 defeat to Flora, which had halted their positive start to the season.

Infonet sat in second place just two weeks ago, but now find themselves in fifth, trailing the expected top four. Despite this small dip in form, they are still just three points from the top of the table, and three points against Kalev would certainly go some way to strengthening their position once more.

Kalev have the league’s worst goal difference (-22) and find themselves third from bottom, with Tammeka, one point below them, having a game in hand. Just one win all season, and three defeats in their last four, are indicative of their plight, and it looks like they will face a tough season in a three-way relegation battle with Tammeka and Lokomotiv Johvi.

Semakhin should return from suspension in place of Aleks Mones, and Aidara may retain his place in attack ahead of Oleg Valov, in what will likely be a familiar setup for Infonet. 4-3-3 will be their favoured formation, spearheaded by Manucho, who is one booking away from suspension, a fact which may come into consideration either before or during the match.

Key Man: Manucho

Infonet will be looking to their main striker for goals here, as anything less than a home win will be considered a failure. Infonet’s goal tally stands at just 11 for the season, so a strong attacking performance could give them some impetus for the next few games. Manucho will be central to their play going forward and needs to get himself on the scoresheet once more.

Focus on KALEV

Kalev are well aware of the struggle they face, particularly after conceding 13 goals in their last 4 matches. 28 goals conceded in total shows one part of the problem, with only six scored showing the other. They have made changes in each of their last few matches, and last week’s 4-1 defeat to Flora could see more this time.

Daniil Savitski has been given the nod in goal in the last two games and may continue between the sticks, with Juri Gavrilov, Aleksei Savitski, Egert Heintare, Lauri Valja, Nikita Koger and Raiko Karpov appearing to be first-choice starters. Aleksei Belov is likely to start as a lone striker, and Karpov is one booking away from suspension so will need to keep his head.

Key Man: Daniil Savitski

If Kalev are to have any chance of getting something from this game, Savitski will need to be on form to deal with the inevitable bombardment he will face. He will need his defence to help him out, but it is likely that some heroics will be the order of the day.

Puśtov will field his team to dictate the tempo since the very first minute. That will mean Lipin and Harin pushing deep on the flanks to bring pressurs to the opposing full-backs of Kalev. Holes in the middle might open for Tanel Melts and Kassim Aidara.
Zamolginõi XI has to play a discipline game having in mind more to keep the lines tight rather than trying to win the ball. Infonet love to go into the spaces.

The Friday game was entrusted to Martin Salong, 82 games in Premium Liiga and a past as a football player at FC Kuressaare. During his top-flight career he showed the yellow card 286 times (3,48) , a second booking 13 times and the straight red 4.

Quite curiously, he has directed two of the previous four and only clashes among the two clubs, and both were the FC Infonet's homes ties:

10.08.2013 FC Infonet vs. Kalev 0-1  (7 INF, 3 KAL, a second booking was shown both to Malinin and Manucho of FC Infonet)

His first assistant will be Jaan Roos and the second one Veiko Mõstnik. Fourth official, Rauno Kald.
