FC Infonet vs Kalju Nõmme match preview

Deni DelevComment

After the nervy derby between the same two teams in the previous round ended without a winner it seemed like both teams left the pitch as losers. Two weeks later they clash again and another draw would most probably bury both teams’ chances for higher position at the end of the championship. That is why we might expect to see more offensive football and way more chances than last time.

Focus on FC Infonet (5/10, 50 pts)

Aleksander Pustov’s team has only one win in the last 5 games and it was against Tammeka. The tough schedule took them a bit away from the chase for the top 3 positions, but didn’t completely sign them out. The game against Kalju in the previous round proved everyone that they have the capacity to compete with the best and if they stay out of injury and suspension troubles they might improve their position on the table. The first team coach has several doubts for this game, but we might expect to see Igonen on the goal, Avilov and Kalimullin in central defense, Elhi and Malov on the full-back positions. Semakhin and Melts will most probably be deployed in central midfield, Valov and Lipin on the left and right wing, respectively and Kassim Aidara as a second striker behind Albert Taar.

Key-man: Matvei Igonen

The 17-year old just came back from international duty where he conceded 7 goals for the U-21 team. However, in Infonet’s jersey he seems much more confident and his saves will be key for his team’s success in this game.

Injuries and suspensions

Besides Manucho and Harin, who are both suspended for this match, coach Pushtov can consider all his other players for selection.

Focus on Kalju Nõmme (3/10, 57 pts)

The road to the top is always difficult and Kalju’s players know that the best. Two wins and two draws don’t seem like bad result for any team, but for the team from Nõmme it was a huge setback in the title race against Flora and Levadia. That is why this game is extremelly important for them. A win will keep them just in the chase, while another mistake will be very costly. Coach Prins can’t be very happy with the situation as some of his best players got injured at this point of the championship, but as any other title contender they have depth in squad and are ready to cover at every position. For this match we might expect to see Telesh on the goal, Rodrigues and the youngster Pürg in defense, Mööl and Ken Kallaste on the full-back positions, Ainsalu and Fabio Prates will most likely be used in the center of the park, Puri and Kirss on the wing positions and as usual, Wakui operating just behind Neemelo in attack.

Key-man: Eino Puri

The 26-year old former Estonian international hasn’t impressed much since his coming back but his quality is undeniable. Coach Prins trusts him and it is just a matter of time when the faith will be repaid in goals and assists.

Injuries and suspensions

The „hospital list“ in Kalju Nõmme is getting longer. After Kimbaloula, Śiśov and Quintieri, we can add also Reintam and Reginald with whom the situation is not very clear and their injuries may not be as serious as initially feared. Bärengrub and Vunk are suspended for this match after the red cards they picked up in the previous game.

Tactical keys

Both teams and the coaches know each other very well and there isn’t anything hidden. Just like the previous match, we might expect tough battles in the midfield and rare break outs through the flanks. The previous clash was decided with goals from break so it won’t be a complete surprise if the same happens this time as well.
