Last night Pärnu Linnameeskond secured other three points in Tallinn by beating Nõmme Kalju II (Kalju double team) 4-2 in Hiiu Stadium.
Another step to what seems to be the promotion to Premium Liiga. They have 55 points, 6 clear of Viljandi Tulevik with 6 games to go.
However, the final result was changed in the morning into 4-0 for the Pärnu side (official decision of Estonian FA here)
Nõmme Kalju II were in fact fielding two ineligibile players, Italian Federico Levi (who only appeared in Kalju’s third team in III.Liiga this season) and Estonian Karl-Gunnar Arulaid, also part of the third outfit.
The reason? Both players were registered within the Kalju squad after the deadline (20th of July). Arulaid was registered on the 21st of July, whereas the Italian midfielder on the 7th of August.
‘A great debut in Esiliiga!’ commented Federico on his Facebook page. ‘We lost, but we produced a lot of game and we ran a lot’ added the Italian from Milano before admitting that it was all purposeless.
Nõmme Kalju II are 6th, 10 points adrift from Pärnu Linnameeskond, however they would not be eligible for promotion as the other double teams of the Esiliiga. FC Flora II (68 points) and FC Levadia II (61) in fact lead the table.
It is not the first time that Kalju stumble upon bureaucratic blunders.
Back in March, the inclusion of Andre Järva in the squad list, cost Kalju the first three points of the season (story here).
