After successfully thrashing the team of Lokomotiv Jõhvi with 5-1 in the previous round, the team of Kalju is now just 2 points behind the leaders Flora and after long time they are again in position to fight for the title. Against them, however, they have the team of Infonet whose unbeaten streak of 8 games ended 2 rounds ago with an infamous loss to their direct rivals Sillamäe and now they are again in a situation where they have to chase the others. Who will get the better of this clash?
Focus on Kalju Nõmme (3/10, 56 pts)
The disappointing draw against Paide is already behind the players of Igor Prins and as they showed in the game against Lokomotiv, they are ready to look forward to the challenges ahead of them. In the previous match the coach managed to rest some of his best players and it is expected to land the strongest XI for this match. That means Teles on the goal, Rodrigues and Bärengrub in central defense, Kallaste and Mööl on the full-back positions, Vunk and Reginald should be deployed in central midfield, Kirss after the hat-trick against Jõhvi probably earned his place on the left flank, Puri on the right and Wakui behind Neemelo in attack.
Key-man: Tarmo Neemelo
The big man has been very quiet this season managing to net only 6 times, (bagging 9 assists as well in the process) and the team scoring depended very much on Wakui. In this match we can expect to see more balls towards the center forward and more activity by him in the box.
Injuries and suspensions
Kimbaloula is out for the season, Quintieri will rest till mid-September, Sisov still hasn’t fully recovered while the situation with Reintam is still not clear. The rest of the squad is available for selection to coach Prins.
Focus on FC Infonet (5/10, 49 pts)
The 10-game unbeaten run for FC Infonet that brought them on the verge of breaking into the top 3 was ended by their bitter challengers for that place, Sillamäe and now they sit alone on the 5th hoping for a miracle in the last 10 rounds and possible new chance to attack for the top. Until then, they are supposed to just win their games. The hunt began already last week with the 3:2 win over Tammeka. Although the result sounds unconvincing, the game was pretty one-sided until the middle of the second half when Pustov’s players almost lost their 3-0 lead due to complacency. The new addition to the squad Taar already added his name to the scoring sheet and is expected to get the nod from the coach for the Friday’s clash as well if Nahk is not completely ready. On the goal we should see Igonen, Kallmullin and Avilov in central defense, Elhi and Malov on the full-back positions, Melts with Nahk or Taar in central midfield, Valov and Lipin on the flanks and Aidara behind Manucho up front.
Key-man: Kassim Aidara
The French-Senegalese attacking midfielder was expected to be the addition to the team that will help them push for the top 3 but his games so far haven’t been convincing as he recorded 3 goals and 4 assists only. There isn’t better time to shine than the game against Kalju.
Injuries and suspensions
Coach Pustov doesn’t have any injured or suspended players.
Both teams favour the 4-2-3-1 formation and there is no surprise or hidden tactics that might change their game completely. What we could hope to see is an inspired performance by any of the players in both teams and mainly battle for the center of the park.
