Liivak close to his first goal

Angelo PalmeriComment

Despite a goal in the Coppa Italia against Palermo Frank Liivak has not yet managed to score one in the Campionato Nazionale Primavera, the main competition for the U-20.

Notwithstanding this, he still is the only Estonian to have ever scored a goal in an official Italian competition (a brief history of the Estonian players in Italy is available here )

Yesterday Napoli took on the Bari Primavera for the matchday 16 in the Girone C, the third group gathering the Central-Southern Italy clubs. A gap of 7 points separated the ‘Azzurrini’ from the Bari U-20.

The match was apparently quite easy for Napoli as the Saurini’s kids managed to fix it on the 2-0 already in the first half.

Frank Liivak started from the bench to come on in second half on 81’ minutes.

Just three minutes before the end of the match, Frank had a great chance as on 87’ minutes, he was one on one with the Bari’s goalkeeper after winning a ball from the Bari's goalkeeper throw, however, his shot was stopped.

Probably his best chance to score a goal in the championship this season.

Local press did not assign an evaluation to him as he played too little.

He plays the last minutes of the match squandering an incredible chance to make it 3-0

Napoli are now 5th on the table. If the championship had finished yesterday, they would have made to the play-offs.
Next week Liivak and Napoli will travel to Latina for matchday 17.
