Soon after starting the season preparation with Viking Stavanger, Karol Mets admitted he had to get used to the higher tempo and to individually better players.
The adaptation process is still ongoing as Viking took on FK Vidar (2.Divisjon, third tier of Norwegian football) in a pre-season friendly.
Notwithstanding the tier gap, it was not an easy game for the top-flight club and Karol Mets in particular.
Two nil down after twenty-two minutes of play, Viking managed to turn the game on its head and winning with an hammering 5-2.
Karol Mets played as central defender together with 18-year old, Rasmus Martinsen from the U-19 team. A very young couple which had some issues.
‘They both struggled against Vidar high pressure and intensity,’ said the Swedish coach Kjell Jonevret. ‘Mets, who has been injured for a while, is not match fit and was replaced in half time’ concluded the gaffer revealing Karol’s condition at the moment. What was his overall evaluation of Mets’ first game with Viking’s strip? ‘Mets struggled. He has been out of practice and was partly to blame for one of the goals let in. It was obvious that none of the back four had played together before. But I'm not worried because Mets is a quality player,’ reassured Jonevret.
