Paide Linnameeskond vs. Sillamäe match preview

Angelo PalmeriComment

Three draws in a row for Meelis Rooba’s side in the last three games. ‘Paidelona’ are short of ideas on how to score goals. They hit the back of the net only three times, just one goal better than newly promoted Lokomotiv Jõhvi.

The game against Kalev (worst defense of Premium Liiga) showed all the issues in the last 15-20mt. Paide can hold the ball quite well and develop their game, however when comes to finishing, it seems that they are rather toothless.

Apart from the shocking goal against Levadia, Swedish Atie’ Said has not managed to score further. Rooba has to make go with Uwa’s absence (fracture, from 6 to 8 weeks) that reduces his choices up front.

Aleksander Vassiljev returned to play with double team in the weekend after a long-term injury caused in a pre-season game against FC Infonet. Same happened to Kaspar Paur fielded in the II.League game against Jõgeva SK. They might both be called up for the game against the tableleader.

Key-man: Rasmus Tomson
The former Tartu Tammeka midfielder has shown good wits since the start of the season becoming one of Rooba’s pillars in the last games. His greatest goal tally in the squad and his offensive attitude shall give Paide the so-far missing cutting edge if Sillamäe defence will concede anything.

Sillamäe’s season has kicked off in the best possible way. With the Tallinn’s big three losing points around for one reason or the other, the Easterners have taken advantage to grab the leadership. They are the only Premium Liiga side unbeaten and have in the target to put their third win in a row.

The ‘longshoremen’ did not miss Ratnikov’s flair, as it was enough to place Kvasov behind Zahovaiko to produce an overwhelming performance against Tammeka.

Kabaev had to quit the game against the Tartuvians for an injury picked up few days before the clash. According to Ratnikov, he shall be back to travel to Central Estonia for the weekend.

Full back Aleksandr Volodin is still sidelined by rotavirus.

Last week debuted in Premium Liiga for Sillamäe Brazilian Joao Paulo Reginato as he played the last 12 minutes of the game. He had been previously at Nõmme Kalju in season 2013.

Key-man: Daniil Ratnikov
This is definitely his season. The red card against Loko has to be an isolated episode, he cannot lose his mind because an opponent his putting extra pressure on him. If oppositions realize that it’s easy to provoke him, he will start to collect cards for unruly behaviour. He’s got class above the average and he will certainly shine against Paide’s shaky defence (fourth worst defence of the Premium Liiga)

The referees squad

Mr. Hannes Kaasik will direct the game in Paide assisted by Hannes Reinvald and Aron Härsing on the touchline.

Kaasik is the most prominent referee of the Estonian FA. 218 games in Premium Liiga since 2001, Hannes is the EFA business card in the World: Champions League and Europa League preliminaries, WC and EC qualifiers are in his international CV. He has show the yellow card for 642 times ( 2,94 per game) and the red one 23 times (0,10). His first seasonal game as match director was last week as FC Infonet beat Lokomotiv 2-0.

On a curiosity note, his 4th assistant, Tomi Rahula, he is the Estonian FA president son-in-law.

Palatu and Mägi will have a lot of work in controlling both 'Slava' Zahovaiko and Daniil Ratnikov. The Sillamäe number 10 will play between the lines and bring the usual unpredictability both in possession and not. Kaspar Kaldoja might be compelled to drop to help the defensive line giving the midfield line additional work to prevent the XI to be too much outstretched over the field. Paide have proved good at defending the fortress, however Sillamäe overwhelming game on the flanks will give several headaches to home full-backs and flanker. It will not be an easy day for Paide as Sillamäe will put pressure from 1' to unlock the score and make the trip back to Sillamäe easier.
