Our Deni Delev attended the presentation of FC Flora held tonight at Sportland football shop in the A.LeCoq Arena.
New jerseys were presented. The Flora home jersey is the same as last season although it carries the logo of the 25th anniversary (right picture). Additionally, an orange jersey that will be worn only on the 18th of September, when Flora will celebrate their birthday in a game against Tammeka. The colour is a homage to the past history when Flora had Dutch coaches (above all, also former National team coach, Arno Pijpers).
It was a chance to catch up with one of the new faces of Premium Liiga, the Finnish striker Sakari Tukiainen who hit the seasonal record of goals scored in Kakkonen (Finnish third flight) last season.
What are your first impressions about Flora?
It’s a very good team and I love to be here.
What are differences between here and Kakkonen?
The tempo is much higher and the players are more skillful
Are you expecting the same goalscoring form you had in Finland?
Yes, I do!
Who do you think will be your direct challengers for a first-team spot?
I wouldn’t say there are challengers. This is not about competition for a spot. I don’t know how it is in other teams, but here we just split responsibilities.
What is your personal aim for the season?
Helping the team and scoring a lot of goals (smiles –edit)
Flora will be back to Europe and it will be Europa League. Expectations for that?
Oh well, I am already very excited to debut in a European competition, I am looking forward to that.
Thank you very much and good luck for your debut game on Saturday.
