Tammeka vs. FC Infonet match preview

Deni DelevComment

Interesting clash in Tartu as Tammeka are hosting Infonet in a match that might prove important for both sides. The home team are still winless this season in front of their own crowd and now they are just a point ahead of Kalev for the position that guarantees them Premium Liiga games next season as well. Infonet, on the other hand, is on a crossroad. At the moment they are three points behind Sillamäe in the battle for the 4th position, so they are obliged to win if they want to keep up the pace with the leading pack.

Focus on Tammeka (8/10, 10pt.)

After being demolished at home by Levadia, Indrek Koser’s players went on and played a decent match against Flora in Tallinn, losing only by a goal. Considering all the problems he has picking up the squad we might expect to see Lukjanov on the goal, Anderson and Tekko in central defense, Sabanov and Paju again on the full-back positions. Laabus and Miller will probably stay in midfield, Naal and Suurpere on the flanks, and Tauts will probably replace Valtna as a second striker, just behind Tiirik.

Standard set-up for Koser as he is trying to rely more on the offensive line. The simple tactics that if you score more than the opposition you will win is what probably goes in his head and we can expect to see many balls played forward towards Tiirik.

Key-man: Andre Paju

The young man has often been shifted from his natural RB position to more central/defensive midfield one. So far, he has answered well to his newly appointed task and we will certainly expect to see lots of new battles between him and Infonet’s front line.

Injuries and suspensions

As mentioned before, Koser is really struggling with the injuries in his team. Martin Jõgi will be out for a long time, the situation with Lorenz remains unclear, Kiidron is also out, Ivanov will be sidelined for 6 weeks, Valtna and Markus Jõgi have minor injuries and will miss this game and Pechter is expected to stay away for a month. Simmo Tenno is the one who should be more cautious as he has three yellow cards already.

Focus on Infonet (5/10, 28pt.)

After last week’s 3:3 against their direct rivals for the 4th position, Infonet fans will certainly expect more goals from their team, but also better defending. The goals themselves should come, but can they keep a clean sheet against Tammeka? Coach Pustov should field team very similar to the one that faced Sillamäe and that means Igonen between the sticks, Kalimullin and Avilov in defense, Elhi and Semakhin on the full-back positions. Nahk and Malinin should take their midfield positions, Harin and Gurtsioglujants will probably deployed on the flanks and Aidara and Valov might be used as forwards.

Infonet definitely has some of the finest forwards in the league but they never seem to utilize them completely. That is why this match is very important, most of all for the wingers and the attacking midfielders to finally get out of the scoring crisis and prove that they can score both home and away in numbers.

Key-man: Kassim Aidara

The French-Senegalese in the team of Infonet struggled of late to find form after his transfer from Sillamäe, but after last week’s goal we might see his confidence back and definitely expect more from him.

Injuries and suspensions

Pustov doesn’t have many difficulties with injuries as Mones is the only one unavailable for selection, together with Manucho who got a red card and will stay sidelined for 2 games.

Tactical keys

The main battle again should be in the center of the park where Infonet with Nahk and Malinin probably has more quality, but if Paju and co. manage to stop their attacks we can also see very offensive football from the hosts and definitely better use of the flanks. It will also probably be an interesting match-up between Tiirik and Aidara on the scoring sheet as they are both hungry for more individual and team success.
