Narva Trans vs. Sillamäe match preview

Narva to Halt the Sillamae Charge?

Sillamae are looking to continue their recent run of good form as they travel east to face Narva Trans. The hosts are having a difficult season, and find themselves in 7th place with just 12 points and two wins so far.

Focus on Narva Trans (7/10, 12pt)

Trans sit six points above the play-off zone and have struggled for goals this term. Just 11scored is a large part of the reason they find themselves so far down the order, but a recent change in formation has seen their performances pick up somewhat.

Changing to a modified 4-4-2 system, with two wingers pushing further upfield, and a central midfielder sitting in front of a defensive midfielder, saw an improved performance in their 2-1 defeat to Kalju, and in their 1-0 win against Paide last time out, one of their two wins this season, both of which have come at home.

Siim Tenno will likely be the central midfielder here, with Bi Sehi Elysee Irie just behind him. The front four are likely to be Misins, Fjodorov, Skinjov and Plotnikov, with Eliseenok having left for pastures new in Russia.

Bondarenko may continue his rotation policy, however, with Tamberg and Avdeev potentially slotting somewhere into the defence or midfield.

Defender Roman Nesterovski is one more booking away from suspension.

Key man: Bi Sehi Elysee Irie

Irie needs to on top form to deal with Sillamae’s attacking midfield threat. If Narva stick with the formation they have used recently, Irie won’t have the support he has been used to alongside him, and extra responsibility will be on his shoulders.

Focus on Sillamae (4/10, 27pt)

Sillamae

Three wins in a row has seen Sillamae remain in the title hunt, and they now sit just five points behind leaders Kalju. Their away form has been impressive, with four wins and two draws from seven trips, although only one of those wins has come in the last three.

The league favourite formation of 4-2-3-1 is to Sillamae’s taste, they are likely to stick with it here. Ratnikov, Kvasov, Masichev and Kabaev are the relatively settled front four, with the latter bagging two goals in the 6-1 thumping of Johvi last time out.

Murikin may retain his place ahead of Lazebnyi after his goal-scoring appearance in the last match, and he should partner Volodin in defensive midfield. Baguzis and Tjapkin will form the central defensive partnership, with the full back positions being less certain, and it could be any two from Meahara, Dudarev, Aleksejev and Novikov.

Sillamae have to tread lightly, however, as Tjapkin, Ratnikov, Volodin and Novikov are all on three bookings.

Key man: Evgeny Kabaev

Kabaev’s two goals against Johvi make him a man in decent form, and he will hope to carry that on here and cause Narva’s back-line serious problems. His link up play with his fellow attackers will be key to taking advantage of Narva’s likely one-man defensive midfield area, and he could be in line to add to his tally from last week if he performs well.

TACTICAL KEYS

Narva v Sillamae Lineups

On paper, Sillamae have the advantage here, as their 21 goals scored and 5 conceded far outweighs Narva’s total of 11 and 17 respectively. The action is likely to be played out more in Narva’s half, and how long they manage to keep Sillamae at bay will be key to them getting something from the game. Committing an extra man forward as they have done recently leaves Narva a little thinner at the back, and Sillamae’s three-man attacking midfield might prove too strong for them.

The best striking line of the Premium Liiga goes to check the best defence of the drop zone. In fact, compared to Paide (29), Tammeka (37), Kalev (52) and Lokomotiv (41), they have suffered only 17 goals. This is all thanks to Bondarenko tactical acumen and ability to organize the best act they have: making it hard for oppositions to score goals. It will not be easy in Narva for Sillamäe either. They might snatch the three points, however with less goals than usual (Sillamäe average is 2,8 per game). The odd offered by Optibet for the Under is really juicy: 2.12

Tip: Under 2,5
