The organizing committee of the Viareggio Cup, otherwise known in Italy as ‘Coppa Carnevale’, has published the official calendar of the competition.

SSC Napoli have been drawn in a group (2) with RSC Anderlecht (BEL, defending Viareggio Cup Winners), US Palermo (ITA) and APIA Leichhardt Tigers FC (AUS).

The calendar for SSC Napoli Primavera:

vs. RSC Anderlecht / 3rd of February 2014 – 15:00 CET
vs. US Palermo / 5th of February 2014 – 15:00 CET
vs. APIA Leichhardt Tigers FC / 7th of February 2014 – 15:00 CET

If Napoli will make it to the eight of finals, they will be played on the 11th of February.

All the games will be streamed on the Italian national TV channel website www.raisport.rai.it

The Viareggio Cup it is one of the most important football tournaments at youth level, it has been through decades a window for the best talents to show up.

The list of football players who have played at this tournament is endless: from former Irish coach, Giovanni Trapattoni to AC Milan forward Mario Balotelli. Among the foreigners, legendary German goalkeeper Sepp Maier, Lahm and Schweinsteiger, Ganso from Brazil, Belgian Romelu Lukaku.

Among other big clubs taking part into the tournament, AC Milan, FC Juventus, FC Internazionale,  AS Roma, SL Benfica, Torino FC, CFC Genoa, US Sampdoria, SS Lazio, PSV Eindhoven, Parma FC.

At the end of the tournament, a jury of Italian journalists from the major Italian sports newspaper, will nominate the so-called ‘Golden Boy’, the best player of the tournament. Last season the title was assigned to Bryan Cristante (1995), AC Milan talent who debuted in Serie A this season and also scored his first goal.

SSC Napoli have won this tournament only once (1975).
