Qingdao Hainiu shocked the Chinese FA Cup scoreboard by beating Chinese Super League side, Tianjin Teda 4-1
Qingdao opened the score very soon (10’) on penalty scored by one of the three foreigners at the club, Yves Ekwalla Herman from Cameroon. The lead was increased twenty minutes later by Wang Xuanhong. In second half Qingdao made it three with Qu Bo (55’). Tianjin had a small comeback with Colombian Carmelo Valencia (82’) however, Vladimir Voskoboinikov, on loan from Kalju FC, nailed the 4-1 score in injury time (90’+3) after Tianjin Teda was left one man light two minutes earlier.
It was the third round of the Chinese FA Cup, the first one in which the 16 sides of the Chinese Super League enter the competition. Among others, also the Ghangzou Evergrande coached by Marcello Lippi featuring the likes of Alessandro Diamanti and, soon, Alberto Gilardino.
Next game in the fourth round will be on the 23rd/24th of July, opponent TBD.
