In a long interview to Yle.Fi, KuPS coach, Marko Rajamäki, had a chance to talk also about Estonian international Ats Purje.
Purje collected 29 appearances last season in Veikkausliiga and 9 goals, being also included in the month’s Best XI (July).
‘He doesn’t have to prove me anything,’ said Rajamäki expressing his satisfaction at the Estonian's performances ‘I would be very happy if he’d continue with us.’
However, the 47-time capped international is seeking to continue his career elsewhere and might not renew his contract with the Kupio side.
According to Rumori sources, the 29-year-old winger wants to move to 2.Bundesliga (Germany second tier).
Born in Tallinn in 1985, Purje earned his first contract abroad at FC Inter Turku, where he won the Finnish title and cup.
After three seasons, he left for Cyprus (2010) only to return to Finland two years after at KuPS.
Purje has scored five goals with the national team, the last one against Slovenia in the Euro 2016 qualifiers (1-0).
Rumori rated him with a 7.
KuPS are negotiating to sign 2012 Veikkausliiga topscorer (Georgian Irakli Sirbiladze) and might have a concrete chance to access Europa League via the UEFA Fair Play table.
