There are trains in life that pass only once and you better jump on them before it is too late.
At the same time, there are buses you need to jump on, because it is your job and it will always be, either you perform it in one country or the other.
Ken Kallaste jumped on the bus to Riga today since Kalju are travelling to the Latvian capital for a friendly game against FK Ventspils.
Ken knows Kalju is his home.
However he is looking for a turn in his career that would move his home across the Baltic Sea onto a 87,000-inhabitant city nicknamed ‘The Sweden’s Manchester’, due to its industrial development similar to the English city.
We can only imagine what kind of feelings Ken is going through while sitting on the team bus to Latvia. Maybe keeping an eye every now and then to the phone, ready to take any call with a +46 prefix.
While the bus ride on the E67 (the ‘Baltic Way’) is bringing him to play Kalju’s first international friendly of the season, at the other end of Europe, in the Mediterranean sea, IFK Norrköping have reached the island of Mallorca for a training camp.
They left yesterday and will return to Sweden on the 18th of February. Meanwhile, they have two friendly games, Friday and next Tuesday.
Ken was not invited on the Spanish island, however, reassured the IFK press service to Rumori, it does not imply that the club’s decision about Ken is negative. Ken is still on hold.
Kallaste will play against FK Ventspils today at 13:15 (live streaming here). At the other end of the continent, IFK will continue their season preparation in a warmer environment.
Whether their destinies will rejoin we will know soon.
