After a two-week trial at AC Oulu, former Lokomotiv Jõhvi and Kalev Tallinn right full back, Aleksei Larin, returned to Estonia without a contract, reported the club’s website.
Rumori reached Rauno Ojanen, head coach of AC Oulu to speak about Aleksei, who also played in Sillamäe a couple of seasons ago.
‘Aleksei is a great sportsman, great defender and a person,’ confessed Rauno adding that he is really physical and has the qualities to play in Ykkönen.
Then, why Oulu did not sign him? Ojanen explained.
‘If he would be from Oulu, I would sign the contract immediately,’ however, there’s a problem with the foreign players limit, confirmed the 49-year-old coach adding that they ‘need only one defender.’ The choice was between Larin and Kenyan player, Crispine Odula. ‘We had to make choices,’ remarked sadly Ojanen ‘and Odula has a bit more quality than him.' 25-year-old defender Odula has played also for the Kenya national team revealed Ojanen to Rumori.
Rauno Ojanen was positive about Larin throughout all the interview and added: ‘I keep my fingers crossed for Aleksei, he has told me that he wants to continue in Finland.’ Additionally, he is offering his help in finding a club on the other side of the gulf: ‘I will ask couple of Kakkonen teams and FC KooTeePee, if they do need a defender and I will give my recommendation for him, because he is a really good person.’
