January, time for trials and, eventually, contracts.
The 'transfer circus' resumes after the short New Year’s break with Estonian players attempting to obtain a contract abroad.
It’s the case of Igor Subbotin, former Levadia’s attacking midfielder, 4 caps in the Estonian national team. The last one was in Doha, 75' in the 3-0 loss against Qatar. Estonian webpage Soccernet.ee evaluated his performance with a 5,5
Subbotin was Levadia’s topscorer last season and has already had a trial at Swiss side, Servette (news in details here).
Tomorrow, as confirmed by his agent (Aleksandrs Cekulajevs) Subbotin will travel to Czech Republic for a trial at Mlada Boleslav. Last season they were eliminated at the third qualifying round of Europa League by Olympique Lyonnais (2-6 on aggregate).
The top-flight club from central Bohemia is 4th on the 2014-15 table, 12 points short of tableleaders Viktoria Plzen.
In front of Mlada, also Sparta Prague (11 points adrift), Levadia’s opponents during last Summer preliminaries of Champions League. Certainly, it is not the best memory for Subbotin from Czech Republic since Levadia picked a 7-0 defeat in Prague, their worst ever in the European cups .
Subbotin’s name has gone around Europe since he is in the top10 of the best scorers of the 2014 calendar year (see infographic on the right - source, Mr Chip).
Just above Sparta’s Lafata.
However we shall consider that, according to IFFHS (data from January 2014), Estonian top-flight (Premium Liiga) sits on the 54th place compared to Czech’s top-flight sitting on the 17th position.
