Few days ago we reported about Konstantin Vassiljev taking part into the training camp in Austria together with his previous club, Amkar Perm, with the status of free agent given his contract expired at the end of last season.
He also took part in the second half of a training game against Banik Ostrava (the club where Joel Lindpere plies his trade) on the 8th of July.
However, in the following one (against Metallurg Donetsk, a 1-0 loss on the 11th of July) he was not part of the team
The Amkar coach, Slavoljub Muslin, explained soon the reason of his absence:
‘We will not renew his contract’ explained the Serbian coach. The official reason behind this choice, unexpected due to what reported by RdS according to trusted sources, a necessary generational change: ‘the team needs fresh blood’ added the 61-year-old coach 'we are looking for midfielders with Russian passport'.
Vassiljev is now set to find a new club with less than two months to the European qualifiers first game (against Slovenia, in Tallinn, on the 8th of September). Before that, Estonia will pay a visit to Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Sweden in a friendly game in Stockholm on the 4th.
